Automating Final Picking with the Eureka AI Vision System

Aioi Systems Co., Ltd., a logistics SIer, has adopted Eureka as the vision solution for its universal robotic picking system. The companies are now validating the system for real-world deployment.

Process

The Eureka 3D Camera captures the products and generates a real-time 3D point cloud.

Using this data, the Eureka Controller detects objects, estimates optimal grasp points, and calculates the robot pose (6DoF). The robot then picks the item and places it at the designated location.

Challenge

Automation in logistics is accelerating due to labor shortages, particularly in inbound handling, storage, transport, and sorting.

However, the final picking stage before shipment remains difficult to automate.

This step must handle high-mix products with frequently changing SKUs.

Conventional systems often require product registration or CAD data for each item, creating significant operational overhead. As a result, many facilities still rely on manual work.

Solution

Aioi Systems developed a universal robotic picking system powered by the Eureka AI Vision System, which provides the robot’s “eyes” and “brain.”

Because the system does not rely on pre-registered data or CAD models, it can recognize and pick real items as they arrive.

This enables practical automation even in high-mix environments with frequently changing SKUs.

Outcomes

Aioi Systems selected the Eureka AI Vision System for its suitability for real logistics operations:

  • No CAD data or product registration required

  • No training required, enabling simple setup and operation

  • Stable object detection with a masterless model

This enables automation that continues operating even as SKUs frequently change, without repeated system reconfiguration.
